Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening, smile with confidence

Do you feel embarrassed to smile?

Do you cover your mouth with your hand when you laugh?

Why do your teeth discolour?

There are many reasons for stained or discoloured teeth, for example:

  • Smoking

the nicotine found in tobacco/cigarettes will stain your teeth over time, no matter how regularly you brush your teeth

  • Drinks & foods

coffee, tea, fizzy drinks, red wine and curry can cause your teeth to discolour because of the effects their ingredients have on the enamel of your teeth. When had in excess, they can strip away your enamel or leave your teeth looking stained.

  • Poor dental hygiene

not brushing or flossing your teeth daily can lead to a build up of plaque on your teeth, when combined with any stain-producing substances such as coffee, may cause your teeth to lose colour.

  • Other causes

of yellowing or discolouration can be aging or deterioration of a nerve in your tooth.

Our two solutions are:

Home Dental Tooth Whitening, cost effective treatment

In use for a number of years, this is still the most popular method of tooth whitening. I’ll take some impressions of your teeth at the practice and then ask a dental laboratory to construct a pair of thin plastic trays which you’ll wear on your teeth overnight. We’ll provide you with a whitening kit, full instructions and a demonstration, and away you go.

Just before going to bed, you place a small drop of whitening gel into each segment of the trays, insert them into your mouth, and go to sleep. The gel works gently on your teeth while you’re asleep. You simply repeat this process every night (typically between ten and 14 days will do the trick) until you’ve achieved the result you want. Some people experience slight tooth sensitivity, but this is only temporary, and you might want to avoid certain foodstuffs such as tea, coffe, red wine, curries for the duration of the process.

Evolution Dental Tooth Whitening, Guaranteed Results

According to the experts, ‘Enlighten is the biggest breakthrough in tooth whitening in the last 15 years’. It is the only system in the world to guarantee ‘shade B1′: as good as it gets on the dental shade guide. After treatment, your teeth will not only appear brilliantly white, they will appear so in a totally natural way – unlike porcelain-based treatments such as veneers or crowns. The really good news is that Enlighten guarantees this end result to every single patient – regardless of starting colour, age, lifestyle, or dietary habits. And the even better news is that Salisbury House is an accredited Enlighten Professional Tooth Whitening Centre.

The procedure is very simple and only takes two weeks for the vast majority (95%) of patients. I’ll take an extremely accurate impression of your teeth and send it to Enlighten’s dedicated lab where specialist technicians will make a pair of ‘super sealed’ bleaching trays. What makes these trays so special is that they increase permeability to such an extent that Enlighten gel is four times less concentrated than that used in most other whitening systems.

You wear the trays for 14 nights and then visit the practice on the 15th day for a 40-minute in-surgery session. From then on, it’s child’s play. As long as you wear the trays for six nights a year after treatment, the results last indefinitely. You can even carry on eating and drinking exactly what you want – including coffee and red wine.
